Animals had a very important role for the man in the early days. First the wolf that later became the dog had a role as a tool for the hunter. The dog could be used for tracking down other animals such as birds and rabbits. This was an essential relationship that helped man survive.
Much later man domesticated a bunch of other animals, such as the pig the horse and the cow. These all had important roles as making man survive. Breeding pigs for their meat, the horse provided help in plowing the fields and could also be used for riding and carrying, the cow gave man milk and meat. It all came down to surviving with the tools as mother nature provided.
At some point between the time where the hunter stands with his helper wolf beside him and today a slow transformation started. The relationship between man and animal became more obscene. It was no longer enough that man used the animals as a tool and a source of food. Man also needed to have an emotional relationship with his animal. Man started feeling compassionate about the animals and felt that he had to bring them inside his house. It was also necessary to have the animals with him into the bed.
There should be stronger penalties for letting animals leave excrement in the streets. This also applies to parks and other recreational areas. We live in a civilization, but having feces in the streets strongly suggests otherwise. There can be as many trendy and fashionable shops up a street, but it only takes one dog shit to bring the civilization back to what it was a 1000 years ago.
It is frequently seen that a dog is allowed to lick a person. A dog constantly licks himself in his genitalia. If the dog is infected with parasites he will get parasite eggs in his mouth. When the dog licks a person in the face the person risk getting infected by parasites.
The dog owners are so proud of their dogs because their dogs are so smart. They can fetch a stick and they can show so many emotions. A snake can not show emotions therefore a dog is better than a snake. The girl with the snake wrapped around her body will of course argue that that is not correct. The fundamental difference must still hold, people are people and animals are animals no matter what sort of animal it is.
The bottom line is that you should not have animals in any form if they have no practical use. It is sick to use animals as friends or even some sort of companion. Use the animals to pull your stuff up the mountain or as food, but not as a friend that is simple to be around. If you want something breathing around you, get a boy or girlfriend. If that is a too complicated situation, then listen to the radio or read books.
